MUMBAI: English movie channel PIX and Hyde Park Entertainment founder and CEO Ashok Amritraj began the journey for the search for a budding movie director to take India to Hollywood with Gateway, India’s first reality show on filmmaking.
The dream to create cinematic history continues as Gateway now searches for the hand that will pen down the beguiling script to be directed by the winner of Gateway.
Gateway was conceptualized with the vision of providing a unique platform for budding Indian directors to showcase their talent on an international platform. And now, the vision expands to the other most important aspect of making movie magic – scriptwriting. Gateway has placed the responsibility of zeroing in on that magical script in the hands Amritraj.
PIX senior vice president Sunder Aaron said, “We at PIX believe that there is a sea of amazingly talented filmmakers in India. The call for script writers for Gateway is our way of expanding the opportunity for these filmmakers and giving them a chance to delve deeply and give a voice and vision to their thoughts!”
Amritraj added, “I believe that a good script is one of the most essential factors in creating a good film. The call for screenplay treatments is aimed for moving away from the jargon of typical Bollywood scriptwriters and tapping into fresh and innovative ideas and vision. I am sure that the combined passions of the winning director and scriptwriter would ultimately create a movie that will make its place in history!”
People can send in entries on www.gateway.rediff.com and fill in the application form. The script must not exceed four pages and the last date for submission is 18 May 2008.
