‘Portraying this role in Kites has come at the right time for me’ – Hrithik Roshan

MUMBAI: The most ambitious project from the Filmkraft banner is all set for two international premieres. Hrithik Roshan accompanied by his father and producer of the film, Rakesh Roshan and the director, Anurag Basu flew to New York on Wednesday night to address the media and then attend the first premier of Kites at the NYC AMC Times Square.

Hrithik has waited patiently for over two years for this bilingual film to release. The film has been shot in Hindi for the sub continent and Indian markets and in English for the Hollywood market. Talking about his film and the experience of projecting his character, Hrithik tells Businessofcinema.com, "Portraying this role has come at the right time for me. As an actor what you have gone through life is reflected in how you perceive the character and then translate it onto celluloid. I have lived every moment of Kites and have been involved in all the aspects of seeing the story from the storyboard transforming into characters on screen."

For Basu, the director of the film, Kites has taken him a notch up in the ladder of learning more about the craft of the business. A successful TV director who gave us serials like Kyun Ki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and introduced the saga of saas bahu serials, Anurag has upped the ante especially after he walked out of the first film as a director due to differences with his producer. From fighting leukemia to creating meaningful cinema, Basu today stands on the threshold of having a film being premiered not just in NYC AMC Times Square but also in Odeon Westend in London. But ask him about his achievements and the director replies, "I am just doing my work. I am like a kid playing with many ideas. I want to make different kind of films and make it well."

Kites will premier in New York on 16 May and in London on 18 May. Barbara Mori, the female lead of the film is in Miami but is expected to join the team later tonight to promote the film. Post the premieres, the team will return to Mumbai to prepare for the release on 21 May.
