MUMBAI: Controversies forgotten, Shah Rukh Khan is on a great emotional high ever since his franchise Kolkatta Knight Riders won the Indian Premier League. Now the actor is looking to diversify his investment portfolio, and is eyeing the sport of football as well.

According to the reports of a leading business daily, Khan is to acquire 50 per cent shares of Dempo SC, one of India’s oldest football clubs.

The deal is still in process, but the owner of Dempo SC, Shrinivas Dempo, has confirmed that he has met the star on several occasions. "The talks between us have been very positive. Although 50 per cent stake in the club would be given away, the name shall be retained," said Dempo.

Khan is bidding for the investment in the football club through his banner Red Chillies, which is also an investor in the IPL franchisee Kolkata Knight Riders. However, apparently Shah Rukh is not the only one to bid for the stake. A renowned former Indian cricketer, who is a fan of soccer along with some corporate houses are said to be in the race.
