MUMBAI: Carey Fitzgerald’s High Point Media Group and Pritish Nandy Communications have joined hands yet again for the latter’s first horror film The Accident.
The movie stars Shiney Ahuja and Soha Ali Khan and tells the story of an upwardly mobile, young couple who, after swapping their hectic life in Silicon Valley for a secluded bungalow back home in India, become subject to unexplained attacks of fear and start to see strange apparitions. The screenplay by Arindam Mitra and is directed by Abhijit Chaudhiri.
The Accident marks the second title of High Point and PNC’s joint venture, which sees the two companies working collaboratively on making and selling commercial Indian films for the international market. High Point will introduce The Accident to buyers at Toronto.
"Pritish Nandy continues to push the boundaries of convention with The Accident. High Point is extremely well placed to handle a film of this genre, having handled a range of successful horrors and thrillers around the world, from George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead to Peter Van Hees’s award winning chiller, Left Bank," said Fitzgerald.
Nandy added, "We are constantly trying to find a new identity for commercial Indian cinema and it’s a pleasure working with Carey Fitzgerald and High Point as they understand our quest so well. The Accident tries to create a unique language and identity for the Indian horror genre which we believe will find resonance with audiences worldwide. Indian cinema is rich in its nuances and horror is its new playground."
