Rajesh Khanna to receive IIFA Lifetime Achievement Award

MUMBAI: Veteran Hindi film actor Rajesh Khanna will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at IIFA this year.

The IIFA weekend is slated to take place from 11 – 13 June in Macau.

Stalwarts of Indian cinema like Lata Mangeshkar, Waheeda Rehman, Yash Chopra, Dev Anand, Yash Johar, VK Murthy, Asha Parekh, Dharmendra and Mumtaz have previously been recipients of this award. Each year, IIFA 2009 honours a member of the Indian Film Fraternity with the Lifetime Achievement Award who have made innumerable contributions to Indian cinema.

Wizcraft International Entertainment director Sabbas Joseph said, "Over the years, we have paid tribute to the greats of the Indian film industry, recognizing their contribution to cinema. In our 10th year at the IDEA IIFA Awards in Macau, we honour Rajesh Khanna who has undoubtedly defined romance in our films. He is considered as the first superstar of Indian cinema and has influenced an entire genre of romantic movies, creating a legendary persona that strikes a chord with the youth, even today."
