Ranbir Kapoor takes it slow and steady

MUMBAI: Ranbir Kapoor is finally waking up with Wake Up Sid. For the better part of a year, as Bachchna Ae Haseeno released last Independence Day, the actor has been only fielding questions about his love life and his sexy girl friend, Deepika Padukone. But now the actor has something to talk about, which is work related and what better film than Wake Up Sid?

Produced by Dharma Productions, Wake Up Sid is directed by Ayaan Mukherjee, a first time director. The unusual pairing of Kapoor with Konkona Sen, who has usually been cast with actors quite senior to her like Rahul Bose in Mr and Mrs Iyer, Irrfan Khan in Life in a Metro and Saif Ali Khan in Omkara, has certainly caught the attention of the multiplex audiences.

Analyses an industry watcher, "Ranbir has also been part of reputed banners till date who have a very good policy for marketing their films. The promo of Wake Up Sid has been completely out of the box and is also in complete sync with Ranbir’s career, whose pace certainly needs to be picked up by a notch or two."

Perhaps the strategy of playing the waiting game is working for the Kapoor lad, as he has single hero films in hand as well as multi-starrers. Keeping a fine balance between strategic obscurity and yet being seen in public with his girlfriend may just be the mantra that Kapoor has mastered.
