MUMBAI: If you have been wondering why Rajkumar Santoshi, who has earlier made films with short titles like Ghayal, Damini, China Gate and Pukar, has decided on a tongue twisting title for his forthcoming film Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani? Well here’s why.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Santoshi said, "The main character in my film is called Prem and he is a strange fellow so the word Ajab. Besides that, Prem also stands for love and the film has a great love story to tell, so the name Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani."
The film, according to Santoshi, is on the lines of his film Andaaz Apna Apna, which starred Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. However while Andaaz Apna Apna had more comedy than romance, this film is more a romantic film with a splash of comedy.
Talking about his lead actors Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, Santoshi said, "I am very impressed with both Ranbir and Katrina, they are very dedicated to their work. When I watched Ranbir in Saawariya I was very impressed with his performance and it was then that I decided to cast him in my film as for Katrina I feel she is very hardworking and has come a long way since Boom and has slowly and steadily risen to the position she is in now."
The film has been shot in Ooty, Goa and the Mumbai studios while the songs have been picturised in Turkey. Santoshi feels the film will be accepted well especially by the younger generation. Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani is slated to release on 6 November, 2009.
