MUMBAI: It is the IPL season and all renowned filmmakers are busy shooting for the various franchisees in South Africa. Sanjay Gupta recently shot a commercial for Royal Challengers Bangalore in Johannesburg and is now back in Mumbai.
Speaking about the commercial to Businessofcinema.com, Gupta said, "We shot with various players from Team Bangalore like Kevin Pieterson, Rahul Dravid, Robin Uttappa and Virat Kihli. Dr. Vijay Mallya was not part of the campaign. It was a shoot of four days at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg, where the semi-finals of the IPL will be held."
Team Bangalore was under a lot of stress as they finished second last in the last season of IPL. Team owner, Dr. Mallya made a lot of changes and paid big bucks to get Kevin Pieterson to lead the team. Under the new coach and the new captain, Team Bangalore is looking more promising and competitive in the second season as they beat the defending champions Rajasthan Royals in the first game.
Keeping that in mind, Gupta was asked to shoot the commercial. Describing it, Gupta said, "The team has been enthused with new blood and new vigour and that is the essence of the new advertisement. The team looks charged and the ad reflects that."
Keeping in mind Gupta’s slick ways of shooting and editing, this advertising commercial will be one to watch out for.
