Mumbai: Santosh Sivan-directed film Before The Rains has won at the 41st Annual WorldFest 2008 Grand REMI Awards. The film won in the Best Theatrical Feature category. The film’s executive producer is Ashok Rao and it has been produced by Excalibur Pictures.
Before The Rains was also screened as the opening night world premiere at the WorldFest. This epic film is set in 1937 Kerala, India on the lush tea and spice plantation of a British planter and his plans for expansion.
The movie stars Rahul Bose, Leopold Benedict, Linus Roach, Nandita Das and Jennifer Ehle.
WorldFest screened 52 feature film premieres, with a complete emphasis on the American and international independent feature films and with a continuing annual spotlight on 75 award-winning international short films and documentary films.
