MUMBAI: Shemaroo Entertainment launches The Best of Hrishikesh Mukherjee DVD Value pack – a collection films like Anand, Chupke Chupke, Bawarchi and Golmaal.
Hrishikesh Mukherjee is one of the greatest film makers that Indian Cinema has seen. He is known as the pioneer of the middle cinema of India. Most of his films painted a story that reflected the changing middle class ethos exposed to the burgeoning foreign influence on the society.
Anand features Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna. The film was a blockbuster and bagged several Filmfare awards including the best movie, editing and story. Also both the stars received the awards for their excellent performances in the film. The film moves around Anand, a cancer patient who teaches Dr. Bhaskar, the way to live life merrily amid of several miseries.
Chupke Chupke features Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bhaduri. The music of the film is given by S. D. Burman.
Rajesh Khanna in Bawarchi and Amol Palekar starrer Golmaal are comedies. Both the films, though comedies, give very strong messages. Golmaal won several Filmfare awards including the best actor award for Amol Palekar.
