Shemaroo’s raid yields goods worth Rs 7.1 mn

MUMBAI: A raid, led by Shemaroo’s anti piracy team this week, yielded pirated material worth Rs 7.1 million (Rs 71 lakh) and resulted in the arrest of 10 people at Akola in Maharashtra.


According to the company, the team, led by Gnanchand Maroo and the Mascot Piracy Investigation, was instrumental in conducting the raid along with the deputy superintendent of police, Akola. 


The raid was conducted at Mohmedali Market and two godowns at Tower Chowk Akola, at 1.30 pm on 25 March 2007 and resulted in the seizure of “27500 pieces worth Rs 71 lakh and the arrest of ten people. Goods included 10,200 DVDs, 7,674 VCDs and 9,626 MP3,” says the release. 


A case has now been registered under the Copyright Act, the release adds.
