MUMBAI: Director Shimit Amin has completed his third film, Rocket Singh – salesman of the year and has already decided on the date of release. A spokesperson from Yash Raj Films, who is producing the film, confirmed, “The date has been locked as the 11 December. Rocket Singh was a start to finish project and has been successfully completed within its scheduled time.”
Shimit Amin has cast Ranbir Kapoor in the main lead. As he plays a Sardar in the film, Kapoor had to grow a beard. Kapoor had said then, “I do not want to wear a false beard, so I have grown it so that it looks natural on celluloid.” He went to great lengths to keep his looks under cover and had only stepped out once to cast his vote in the interim period.
Shooting for the film started on the 2 May this year at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. Most of the shooting for this film has been restricted to Mumbai. The film also stars Shazahn Padamsee, who will make her debut with this film.
Kapoor has always had a variety of co-stars in his films. If the sensational Sonam Kapoor made her debut with him in Saawariya, Ranbir had the fortune to romance three gorgeous heroines, Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone in Bachna Ae Haseeno and in Wake Up Sid, he was paired opposite Konkona Sen. And in his latest, he has yet another debutant with tremendous potential.
Rocket Singh- Salesman of the year is an eagerly awaited film as Amin made waves with his last release, Chak De. Backed with the Yash Raj banner and a lead actor, Kapoor who has been performing consistently at the box office, this film has a lot of promise.
