MUMBAI: Singer Sukhwinder Singh is following in the footsteps of singers turned actors Lucky Ali, Sonu Nigam and Hinesh Reshammiya. Singh will soon be seen in his debut film Khudi Ko Kar Buland Itna.
The film is based on a social issue and has been made under the banner of Surya Films. Khudi Ko Kar Buland Itna is directed by Jagbir Dahiya.
Speaking about his debut as an actor Singh said, "I haven’t really prepared for the role, it came very naturally to me because I have to talk about the same values that I had grown up with. Also I never intended to be an actor I just got into this because the film’s subject supports issues that promote positivity in the society, and I did the film to pass on the message to society, I will always support such endeavors in future too."
Dahiya revealed that Singh was cast because of his singing talents, he said, "We had not decided on the cast, however, we had recorded just one song with Sukhwinder and I really liked the way he sang the song and the energy he displayed in the recording studio, he seemed to fit the character of Rishi so I told him that I’d like him to act in my film, and after hearing the story line, he agreed."
The film is slated for a December release.
