Sky Music’s tribute to Rabindranath Tagore

MUMBAI: As a tribute to Bengali poet, Rabindranath Tagore, music director Tabun Sutradhar’s Sky Music is soon releasing a unique collection of 10 Hindi songs based on Rabindrasangeet. Titled as Mere Man Mein Dhadkan Mein, the music is by singer Indrajit Dasgupta and Tabun.

Tagore has countless works written mostly in Bengali. Although Tagore had captured in his works every ripple of human emotion and sentiment, no effort hitherto had been made to carry his rich lyrics and music beyond the borders of Bengal.

This will be the first-ever Hindi version of Rabindrasangeet. It is the reproduction of the original Tagore songs. Notwithstanding the subtle, variation in words, meaning and phraseology, the compositions have retained the essence and refreshing flavour.

Tabun says, “We have just tried to set the trend. The songs have been so selected, as to portray different facets of human mood; be it agony or ecstasy, success or defeat, optimism or dejection, love or adoration, worship or patriotism. Eminent writers like Javed Akhtar, Shaheen Iqbal and Rajesh Johri have penned the Hindi lyrics. We are doing a video of the song on actors Rituparna Sengupta and Ashmit Patel. Ujjwal Chatterjee will direct the video while Mahadevan will choreograph the same.”
