Mumbai: Sony Pictures India has promoted Kercy Daruwala as the company’s managing director with effect from 1 June.
As the managing director Daruwala will be looking into theatrical distribution and operations. Prior to this, Uday Singh has been the managing director at Sony. Since January this year, Singh is the executive vice president for production.
Daruwala was earlier the director of sales at Sony Pictures India for five years. He has been with the company for 29 years now. Appu Singh will now be handling Daruwala’s post of director of sales.
Confirming the development to businessofcinema.com Daruwala says, "We will be strengthening our distribution offices with manpower and structure because in times to come Sony will have more and more Bollywood releases."
Sony Pictures India co-produced and released Saawariya in 2007. By 2009 the company will see six to eight Bollywood film releases.
