MUMBAI: Disney Channel, will premiere a new musical drama, Ishaan on 15 May, 2010 at 10 am.
The television production arm of Red Chillies Entertainment, headed by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife Gauri Khan, has been commissioned to produce the tween musical drama.
Ishaan is the musical and inspirational journey of a young boy and will include a soundtrack of 11 original tracks.
Walt Disney Television International India vice president and general manager Natasha Malhotra said, “Ishaan brings Disney brand promises to life – optimism, self-expression, imagination, entertainment, quality – and joins our music-driven properties including Hannah Montana and High School Musical, in delivering relatable characters and stories to India’s youth.”
Regarding his company’s foray into kids and family entertainment, Khan said, "I have always enjoyed watching Disney Channel with my kids and I am happy that my company is producing a show that will be part of the Disney family."
Ishaan is the inspiring musical journey of a boy who finds friends and a sense of belonging through music. Extremely intelligent and talented, Ishaan finds his true calling and his friends through music when he joins a school band Yaari. Ishaan’s story showcases the triumph of friendship and passion over ambition, set in the backdrop of music.
The cast stars newcomers Tapasvi Mehta, Anisa Butt, Nakul Sahdev, Farhina Parvez, Kishen Savjani and Ayaz Ahmad along with Shruti Ulfat, Rajinder Mehra and Rajiv Paul.
Ishaan has been written by Jaydeep Sarkar and is being directed by Iqbal Rizvi.
