Star Gold cashes in on RDB’s Oscar fever

MUMBAI: Cashing in on Rang De Basanti’s nomination as India’s entry to the Oscars this year, Star Gold will air the film on 2 October at 1 pm.

What’s more, Star Gold has also launched an initiative called Rang De Basanti Salaam, wherein the channel will honour unsung heroes who have risen above and beyond their everyday lives.

Much like the Red & White Bravery Awards, which honour common people who emerge victorious amongst all odds to help others selflessly; Rang De Basanti Salaam too will salute individuals who reached out to touch another’s life and unknowingly changed it forever.

The Rang De Basanti Salaam special will also have the cast and crew of the film comprising Aamir Khan, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra sharing their views on the film with the viewers.

Star Gold has identified five such individuals as Heroes of the Rang De Basanti Salaam initiative which have stood out from the rest impacted the society at large. These include a farm worker, a 13 year old singer, an Inspector General, a businessman and an engineer.

A special episode narrating these five stories will be telecast on the channel on 2 October at 12.30 pm.  Viewers from all over the country can then give their Salaam to these unsung heroes via SMS. The money collected from all the SMS received will be equally divided between the five heroes.
