MUMBAI: The Sunny Deol starrer Arjun is the latest film that is going to be remade. While details about the producer and director of the movie are not yet known, the remake will feature actor Nikhil Dwivedi as the protagonist.
Shah Rukh Khan has acquired the rights of the film Arjun from Cineyug and according to Dwivedi the producers have acquired the remake rights of the movie from Khan.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Dwivedi who already has four films under his belt said, "Yes I will be playing the protagonist in the remake of Arjun, the negative rights of which are with Shah Rukh Khan. More than excited, I feel it’s a big responsibility as the film has already been made once and was well received. It is not easy to do the role."
The film was supposed to be made earlier but the producers and director could not find a relevant adaptation or social issue, since the earlier Arjun was based on the social issue of unemployment, which is not quite relevant today.
Sources close to the development say that though the concept and ethos of the film will be retained, the issues and treatment will be relevant and reflect the current times.
Dwivedi, who is currently shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Ravaan, where he portrays the role of Laxman, says the film should go on floors in another three months time. However, he did not disclose as to who will be producing and directing the film. "The formal announcements should be made soon," he said.
