MUMBAI: Tandav Film Entertainment – the makers Khosla Ka Ghosla – has locked in deals with two Hollywood studios. The production house has inked a one-film deal with Warner Brothers India and multiple film deal with Sony Pictures Releasing of India.
Tandav Film Entertainment will be pumping in approximately Rs 1.50 billion (Rs 150 crores) for four films.
As per the deal, Warner Bros and Sony Pictures will distribute and market Tandav’s forthcoming films. The movie that Warner Bros will market and distribute is a medium budget family drama. Emraan Hashmi has been penciled in for the lead role, though the female lead is yet to be decided. Joy Augustine, of Tere Mere Sapne fame, will be directing the film. The shooting for the film starts in June this year.
Tandav Film Entertainment’s deal with Sony Pictures Releasing of India spans over the next two years. Speaking exclusively to Businessofcinema.com Tandav Film Entertainment founder and CEO Savita Raj Hiremath says, “We are finalizing three films as of now that Sony Pictures Releasing of India will market and distribute for us. While one will be directed by Gulmeet Singh, the others are in the process of being signed.”
About the budget, Hiremath says the definition of budgets have changed over the period of time. “While small budgets started off with Rs 1 crore, it has moved up to Rs 4 crores today. However, the budgets will be chalked out once the star cast is zeroed in on,” states Hiremath.
The production house is also getting aggressive with mobile content. While the company is not linking up with any mobile network, it plans to partner with software companies for exploiting content on the mobile platform.
