Mumbai: Tata Elxsi, the embedded technology arm of the Tata group, has inked an MOU with RV-VLSI Design Center (part of the RV group of educational institutions, promoted by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust) for imparting industry specific training in embedded technology.

Tata Elxsi and RV-VLSI will impart quality domain specific training to new engineering, MSc graduates (in electronics and related branches) and working professionals looking for a career change or skills up gradation. The training program will focus on building a strong foundation for career growth to bridge the present industry academia gap. Students enrolling in this program are assured of placement provided they meet the eligibility criteria and successful completion of course.

The five-month course is broad based and designed to suit the requirements of a wide spectrum of companies in the embedded technology space. Tata Elxsi will be involved in drafting the curriculum, facilitating faculty and providing key industry insights.

RSST president Dr M. K. Panduranga Setty asserted that through this alliance, Tata Elxsi and RV-VLSI will help students to focus on core competencies and industry specific training thereby laying the foundation for a successful career growth plan.

Tata Elxsi corporate manager- talent productivity & quality RD Kulkarni said, "The embedded systems market is set to grow exponentially. Industry estimates show that the demand for engineers in this space is set to increase to more than six lakhs by 2015. Our involvement in terms of providing the industry perspective and expertise will certainly help in meeting this demand in the embedded technology space."

RV-VLSI Design Centre CEO Venkatesh Prasad said, "Today organizations spend a significant amount of time and money in training fresh engineers on embedded technologies to get them productive on projects. This initiative would bring down this time and cost significantly thereby benefiting such organizations. This program will produce industry ready manpower."

"This will, in turn, enhance the status and ranking of professional colleges as providers of industrial talent. The admissions open in two weeks and the course will be conducted in the RV-VLSI campus in Jayanagar 4th T Block, Bangalore," he added.
