MUMBAI: Veteran Telugu filmmaker A B Subba Rao passed away at the Apollo Hospital in Chennai on 26 March 2007.
In his 55 year long career, Subba Rao made more than 80 films in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. He produced his first Telugu film in 1952, directed by L V Prasad. Rao also made the original versions of the Rajendra Kumar starrer Humrahi and Sasural. T Rama Rao directed 15 of Rao’s Hindi films, including Jeevan Dhara and Muqabla. Rao was also the producer of the original version of the Sanjeev Kumar starrer Khilona.
He was 82 years old and is survived by a son and two daughters.
