MUMBAI: Super Cassettes Industries Limited (SCIL) has filed a complaint with the Puttur police station in Mangalore against Classic Video and Mobile Point for infringement of its copyrighted works.
The police, on complaint of SCIL, conducted a raid on Classic Video and recovered pirated MP3 CDs, Bluetooth DVDs and memory cards, which contained copyrighted works of SCIL’s films like Billu Barber and Ghajini.
The company’s owners and employees were also found downloading songs and videos of films like Aap Ka Suroor, Apne, Fashion, Billu Barber, Karz and Ghajini, the copyrights of which belong to SCIL. Additionally, obscene films were also being downloaded by them with the help of a CPU and card reader of a computer onto many mobile phones.
The police registered a FIR (No. 123/2009) against the proprietors Avinash and Suresh and arrested them for offense of piracy.
