T-Series may start its own music channel

Mumbai: Few days back, ETC Networks Ltd. in a press release had claimed outstanding dues payable of Rs. 70 million from T-Series. Result: T-Series has boycotted the music channel and has withdrawn all their film paid promos and non-films music as well as their constant supply of music videos and audiovisuals of film music. Joining them are other reputed music and production companies such as Yashraj Films, Sa Re Ga Ma Music, SONY Music, Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Ltd, Percept Picture Company, etc. They all have announced a boycott against ETC and ZEE Telefilms Ltd.

It has often been alleged in the industry circles that ETC along with ZEE Telefilms Ltd. has been regularly infringing on the Intellectual Property Rights of the film industry. Commenting on this, T-Series head honcho, Bhushan Kumar said, “We have taken this step against ETC because they have tried to misinform the general public by presenting them a different picture. For the record there are no outstanding dues payable to ETC. In fact, we have taken this step against them because of several instances of copyright violations aggregating approximately to Rs 10.75 million.

He further added, “I head a Rs 20 Billion company. Till date not a single cheque has bounced from our company. I am ready with my account books, anyone can come and check them. I am contemplating a legal action against ETC. I am going to serve them a legal notice.” He sounded let down by ETC’s behaviour. He further voiced his disappointment, “They seem to have forgotten it was me who gave them the required support during their initial days. I had given them a cheque of Rs 10 million then and constantly kept providing them promos. Now in return I have to face all this from them!”

Clarifying the talks in the market that T Series is soon going to launch its very own music channel, Bhushan Kumar said, “We may launch our own music channel or may be we all who have joined hands together against Zee and ETC shall promote one particular music channel”.

Omkara producer Kumar Mangat opines, “Eros Music is handling the music rights of my film and they might join the tirade against ETC and ZEE as well.”
