UTV set for three releases in March

MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures will release three movies, all belonging to diverse genres this month.

Of these, two are Hollywood mainline film releases, namely Mira Nair’s The Namesake, that opened in the US on 9 March 2007 and I think I love My Wife, that stars Chris Rock, which will release in the US on 16 March 2007.

Both films are co-productions with Fox Searchlight, says a company release. UTV, it is learnt, is going all out to market and promote these films nationally as well as internationally, with plenty of buzz across channels like CNN in north America.

The third film to release this month from UTV’s stable is Milan Luthria’s Hattrick.

The Namesake will release in India on 23 March 2007 with a global release of 1150 prints that includes countries like the US, the UK, France, Switzerland, India, New Zealand, Italy and Spain, making it India’s first truly crossover movie for worldwide release. Spends on marketing and prints worldwide are an estimated $ 10 million.

I Think I Love My Wife will be released in the US with over 1800 prints and then worldwide, between April-June with another 1200 prints with marketing and print budgets of $ 20 million.

Hattrick, on the other hand, will be released on 16 March 2007. The movie, with its backdrop of cricket, releases at an appropriate time to coincide with the cricket World Cup, which got underway in the West Indies from 13 March 2007.
