UTV World Movies bags Golden Globes telecast rights

MUMBAI: UTV World Movies has bagged the exclusive rights to telecast the Golden Globe Awards, which are slated to held on 12 January. The channel will telecast the awards live at 6.30 am with a repeat on the same day at 8 pm.

UTV World Movies is the first Indian channel to bag exclusive rights to telecast the Golden Globe Awards for the next three years in the SAARC region (excluding Pakistan). The channel will present a wholesome Hollywood experience certain to catch the eye of the audience, critics and aficionados of movies alike.

UGBL executive director Shantonu Aditya said, "Kicking off 2009 in our own exclusive style, we are hosting the year’s most dazzling event and saluting the world’s most favorite movies and television programs. Showcasing the event LIVE on the television screens, we are bringing the stars and the best of movies closer to our viewers. They can enjoy this ‘one-of-a-kind’ offering as the best in the entertainment business get awarded and celebrate the success of their favourite stars especially with our first Indian movie Slumdog Millionaire is being nominated for the Awards. We are happy to associate in presenting where Indian cinema has gone to a global platform back home in India."

Waltz with Bashir, a part of the UTV World Movies library, has also been nominated for the Golden Globes this year.
