MUMBAI: Next Friday’s release Namastey London clashes not only with the annual school and college exams, but also with the ongoing cricket World Cup. To cap matters, India will be playing Sri Lanka on the day of the film’s release (23 March).
However, the film’s producer and director Vipul Shah says, “If we are expected to be scared of the World Cup, then even the World Cup should be scared of Indian cinema. In India, films are as big a passion as cricket.”
He adds, “Today, every entertainment medium has its own audience, so we will also find our audience. KBC does not go off air during the World Cup. Similarly, if a film is good, nothing in the world can stop it.”
Namastey London stars Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Rishi Kapoor and Upen Patel. The film is presented by Adlabs and is a part of Shah’s 10 film deal with the corporate.
The worldwide distribution rights of the film are with Eros, which has already distributed Eklavya – The Royal Guard and Salaam-e-Ishq this year.
