Vistaar Religare’s first movie to go on floors on 20 June

MUMBAI: Vistaar Religare Film Fund’s first project will go on floors on 20 June.

The film will be directed by Bhawna Talwar, who made her directorial debut last year with Dharm. Talwar’s next will be a comic caper, which will star Pankaj Kapur in the lead. The film is tentatively titled Avasthi.

Vistaar Religare Film Fund was launched in March this year with a funding of Rs 2 billion (Rs 200 crores). Its debut film with Kapur is being made on a budget of $2 million (approximately Rs 8 crore).

Talking about the film Vistaar Entertainment Ventures chairman and managing director Sheetal Talwar says, "This film is about a man’s (Avasthi) life in Mumbai city. So the city also plays a pivotal role in the film. Since this is a comic film, it will be very different from Bhawna’s earlier film – Dharam, which also starred Pankaj."

The film will be shot entirely in Mumbai and the shooting will wrap by mid August. "We are looking at releasing the film by early next year, after we have screened it at a few festivals," says Talwar.
