Zee Network acquires Gordon’s Great Escape To India series

MUMBAI: As the second series of Gordon’s Great Escape begins production and Gordon Ramsay leaves Thailand to head to Cambodia on his first ever tour of South East Asia, Optomen International has sold the first series to Zee Networks in India.

In the first 3×60 series, produced by One Potato Two Potato for Channel 4, Gordon embarks on a gastronomic quest, travelling to India to experience the stunning diversity of its culinary traditions and submerging himself in all aspects of Indian culture – no matter how challenging, unfamiliar or extreme.

Caroline Stephenson, director of sales said, “We’re delighted that Gordon’s amazing journey through India has resonated with local audiences too, revealing as it does India’s deep and abiding love for food and Gordon’s passion for exploring – and learning from – the country’s rich culinary heritage.”

As well as the sale to India, the show has also been licensed to Fox Latin America, The Q Channel in Korea, Filmlux Netherlands and Paprika for its channels in Hungary, Czech, Slovakia and Romania. The show has also been sold to a clutch of in-flight operators including Virgin Atlantic and Cathay.

Gordon’s Great Escape reveals Gordon Ramsay as you’ve never seen him before: In a strange land, out of his depth and as student rather than teacher, exploring what is, for him, virgin territory.

For the second series, upped to four episodes, Gordon is back on the road searching out the best food in the world and testing himself in extreme and demanding situations. This time his appetite for adventure will take him through four of South East Asia’s most exciting culinary destinations: Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
