[tps_footer]On December 14, 2013 superstar and legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan shared the stage with leading scientists, sportsmen, writers, musicians, social activists, as he was honored at the Rashtrapati Bhavan (Indian Presidential Residence) in Mumbai. Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sachin Tendulkar are the few ones who made it in NDTV’s 25 Greatest Global Living Indians.

Amitabh Bachchan was conferred the title amidst celebrations, by the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee.

The co-founder and executive co-chairperson, NDTV, Dr. Prannoy Roy opened the ceremony with a welcome speech. He said, “Am here tonight on behalf of everybody at NDTV to thank every single one of you, for your trust in us. To cap all our emotions today, the 25 Greatest Global Living Indians have all come here tonight, and just by accepting our invitation, they have given one of the most valuable thing – their trust.”

An ecstatic Amitabh Bachchan took on to Twitter: “NDTV honours 25 Global Indians on it’s 25th anniversary. Honours to be done by the President of India! Yours truly is one of them.”

Post the event, Mr. Bachchan wrote: “A commemoration by the President of India at Rashtrapati Bhavan of 25 Indians, that brought glory to the nations. It being 25 years of the existence of NDTV.”

Before the ceremony a summit was organized, where other Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Waheeda Rehman, Jaya Bachchan and AR Rahman were present. Shah Rukh Khan arrived a bit late to the summit, and blamed it all on Delhi traffic. He then took on the stage, performed with Amitabh Bachchan and Waheeda Rehman.

Mr. Bachchan felt very humbled on receiving this honour, and mentioned that there are others who are far more deserving than him. He concluded saying, “The greatness is not in an individual, but the people who think about him/her in that light.”
