MUMBAI: There are some secrets in Bollywood, which remained confined only to a few close industry pals. But Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher decided to reveal their old secrets when the seasoned actors bonded for a master class session with students of the latter’s acting school.
What first began as a discussion platform of Anil Kapoor’s journey in Bollywood and a motivating dose for students soon became an adda for two versatile actors Anil Kapoor and Anupam Kher to reveal some unheard secrets during their early days.
Anupam Kher was the one to play the role of the iconic Mogambo in ‘Mr. India’, but it was Anil Kapoor, who made a decision to replace him with Amrish Puri. Anil Kapoor said he had no qualms doing it, justifying that Amrish Puri was a better person to pull of the role considering his claim to fame in ‘Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom.’ While Anupam Kher was quite dejected, he was convinced when he saw the film and said the decision was right to cast Amrish Puri.
While this was just one secret, it sent lot of chuckles and claps from the audiences and they were craving to hear more from these legends.
The two actors also talked about their camaraderie in films like ‘Ram Lakhan’, ‘Tezaab’ and how Anil Kapoor had walked into Mahesh Bhatt’s residence when he and Anupam Kher were practicing for ‘Saaransh’.
Anil Kapoor gave tips to the students and said how he had misbehaved with Dilip Kumar, which would have led to his ouster from the industry. He warned the students, and at the same time entertained them with a few dialogues of his films.
Some other secrets that were leaked during the engaging interaction was about ‘Meri Jung’ and how Anil Kapoor managed to get the lead role, initially supposed to be played by Amitabh Bachchan. The actor credited Javed Akhtar, as it was through him and his conviction that the film also saw the light of day.
With Anil Kapoor giving some gyaan it surely must have been an entertaining session. After all Anil Kapoor’s is also known to be a taskmaster. The actor will soon be seen debuting on the Indian television front.
