Water (2005): Deepa Mehta’s films have a way of getting themselves into trouble. That is because she doesn’t shy away from touching bold topics. The film Water starring Lisa Ray and John Abraham saw a widowed woman living in an ashram for widows in the early 1940s. The film faced a lot of opposition so much so that the film’s shoot had to be shifted from Indian to Sri Lanka. It was later released in 2007.
