It is very difficult to not fall in love with Salman Khan. So it is not much of a surprise that the Turks fell in love with him while he was there shooting for Ek Tha Tiger, so much so that that a cafe has been renamed after him.
The story goes like this. Salman had a regular haunt he would visit while he was in Mardin, Turkey for ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ – a cafe called Cafe Del-Mar. While the primary reason to go there was because it was close to where they were shooting, it seems Salman suggested various changes to give the place a facelift.
It started with decor and music, and went on to the food and beverage menu. Director Kabir Khan says, “In Mardin, this cafe was our only hangout. The music system wasn’t very good, so Salman sent someone to get a better one. He installed it at the cafe, played new music and, after the shoot, left the sound system there.” The staff began to look forward to Salman’s visits and by the end of their shooting schedule in Turkey, the place looked completely different. To show his gratitude, the cafe owner decided to rename the cafe to Salman Khan Cafe.
