Critically acclaimed Swara Bhaskar is currently gearing up for Anaarkali of Aarah. In a recent interview, Swara revealed that she approached filmmaker Aditya Chopra for Salman Khan starrer Sultan.
Swara Bhaskar had wished to play the female lead in Sultan. She wanted to play Aarfa in the film. So when she came to know that Aditya is making a film on wrestling, she felt that she has the perfect body type to carry off that role and was very keen to star opposite Salman Khan.
Swara further said that she had sent director Aditya Chopra a message saying that she thinks Adi should cast her in Sultan because she would be able to stand up to a pehelwaan because she has that much grit and spirit.
She further said that she got a reply from the director sweetly saying no to her. Aditya wrote, “Hi Swara, please don’t mind and I’m sure you have lot of grit and spirit but I don’t think so for this role. Sorry,” And then of course, Anushka Sharma bagged the role.
Swara Bhaskar has played secondary characters alongside Salman Khan in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and a memorable role in Raanjhanaa amongst others.
Swara had a wish to work with Shah Rukh Khan and romance him. She was given a chance to work with SRK by her Raanjhanaa director, Anand L. Rai, but it was not to be his lover but to be his mother!!! Yes you read that right!
Swara revealed to a leading portal, “I love Shah Rukh Khan. I have grown up watching his films. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge actually ruined my life.” She went on to narrate, “I told Shah Rukh sir in the presence of Aanand sir to please ask him to cast me in his film with him.” But the spunky actor was quick to lay down a condition. She didn’t want to play the superstar’s ‘sister’ or ‘daughter’. But the director threw a shocker her way. “Aanandji said, ‘Beta, I can only offer you his mother’s role!’ I was like this is the worst conversation I’ve ever had,” laughs Swara at the outrageous memory.
Swara Bhaskar is now gearing up the lead actress in Anarkali of Arrah. Anaarkali of Aarah revolves around an e*otic singer (Swara) from Aarah in Bihar. Things take an ugly turn when Anarkali has a confrontation with a very powerful man and instead of bowing down she chooses to fight back. The film is releasing on June 24.
