MUMBAI: Khiladi Akshay Kumar has plans to go Rowdy again with his ‘Rowdy Rathore’ producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali, in another south remake project titled ‘Gabbar’.

Bhansali is set to produce the remake of the 2002 Tamil blockbuster hit film ‘Ramana’ marking the Bollywood debut of Telugu award winning film director Krish. Akshay Kumar will be playing the lead role in ‘Gabbar’. The film highlights a fight against corruption.

“We will be remaking ‘Ramana’. It’s a beautiful film and I believe such cinema should reach our Hindi film-watching audience as well. We look to do justice to the subject and treatment and are extremely excited about the project,” confirmed Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

The official rights of the popular Tamil film have been acquired, and soon the makers will soon announce the leading lady, and fix a date to begin shoots for the film. At present the producer is busy with his directorial project ‘Ram Leela’.

“It’s been a great year for Bhansali Productions- ‘Ram Leela’ is eagerly awaited. Bhansali Productions now looks to taking its success benchmark several notches higher with ‘Gabbar’. The film which will go on the floor this year, will be co-produced by his close friend Shabinaa Khan, who was his partner in ‘Rowdy Rathore’,” shared an insider.
