On Monday, Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan denied taking Rs. 6.31 crore to endorse the DD Kisan channel. Amitabh Bachchan denied all the reports saying that he had no contract with national broadcaster Doordarshan. In a statement released by the star, Amitabh Bachchan said, “I wish to state that I have not entered into any contract with Doordarshan, on the endorsement of their channel DD Kisan, and neither have I received any money from them.”
The star went further on and said that he has worked with the advertising agency Lowe Lintas on the campaign for DD Kisan. He also revealed that he hasn’t entered into any contract with them, nor has he received any money from Lintas.
In 2010, Amitabh Bachchan got the farmer tag when he bought the land in a Muzzaffarnagar village Kakori. Amitabh Bachchan also revealed that endorsing the channel was his pro bono act. Earlier it was reported that Bollywood’s Big B charged Rs. 6.31 crore to promote DD Kisan and it was also suggested that Lintas had a tough time in getting Amitabh Bachchan on board to be a part of the campaign.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the public funded Doordarshan’s Kisan channel in May. On work front, we’ll soon get to see Amitabh Bachchan in director Bejoy Nambiar’s upcoming film Wazir, which also stars Farhan Akhtar and John Abraham. The film also stars Aditi Rao Hydari. The makers of Wazir have already mesmerized audiences with film’s two teasers. We last saw Amitabh Bachchan in director Shoojit Sircar’s film Piku, which also featured Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan.
The film did an amazing business at the Box Office. Piku told a story of complicated father and daughter relationship and how a journey repairs their relationship.
