MUMBAI: Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be the lead actor in the next film directed by Anurag Kashyap.
After working in a short film together, Amitabh Bachchan and Anurag Kashyap who share a mutual admiration for each other’s work have decided to associate for a full-length feature film.
The Big B who keeps his blog very well maintained and up to date, recently posted, “…later in the year to start a complete film, which he (Anurag) has narrated to me, and which sounds innovative and exciting…”
Director Anurag Kashyap confirmed the news, “I’m thrilled. Like everyone, I have also been a fan of Mr. Bachchan from my growing up years. Though I wanted to make a film with him for the longest time, I wanted to be sure that the role is something he has never done before. While working on the short film with him, I got this idea, which we discussed and he agreed.”
Amitabh will be seen in the lead role for this film. The film is of a thriller genre which will go under productions by early next year.
Says Amitabh, “I am delighted to be working with Anurag, a director, who has through his rugged belief in his kind of cinema compelled us to fall in line with him. I have a general concept of the story and anxiously wait for him to begin shooting.”
Currently both the talented men have their hands full: Anurag Kashyap is busy with ‘Lootera’ starring Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha, ‘Hasee Toh Phasee’ with Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra and later ‘Bombay Velvet’. Amitabh Bachchan on the other hand is busy with Prakash Jha’s ‘Satyagrah’ and will soon get even more busy with promotions of ‘The Great Gatsby’ – his Hollywood debut film.
