Amul’s Latest Ad Takes A Shot At Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Purple Lips

Amul-ad-Aishwarya

[tps_footer]Amul has been a brand that is well-known for its funny, satirical and at times even iconic cartoon ads. The ‘Amul Girl’ took the country through some of the most difficult, happy, trying and exciting times with the punny and funny illustrated ads. People have often wondered if this ad and its relevance has decreased with the onslaught of technology and the growth of social media. However, their latest ad will leave you in no doubt that the Amul ads are still very contemporary and have not lost their wit or sense of humor in the least.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s purple lipped avatar at the 2016 Cannes International Film Festival was the subject of many memes and twitter trolls earlier this week. The bold-lipped look that she sported on the red carpet was equally lauded and rejected by audiences as well as Bollywood insiders. The subject of her make-up choice had been blown out of proportion and was trending on Twitter. Well, being the marketing geniuses that they are, the guys at Amul missed no chance to put their view forth on the issue and came up with this masterpiece of an illustration.

What’s ‘honth’ what not!” reads the very witty caption. The caption is derived from the famous fashion saying ‘What’s hot, what’s not’ and we think is a very clever take on the whole episode. The illustration shows a cartoon of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with purple lips and the Amul girl with a buttery yellow color.[/tps_footer]
