The big fat Bollywood wedding of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, fondly called Saifeena; the wedding bells finally ring for the Nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan and his betrothed of five years, Kareena Kapoor on October 16th.
This wedding is no ordinary wedding. It is the wedding of a Bollywood queen to a Nawab, the Nawab of Pataudi.
With each passing day, one has seen Kareena blossom from just being a Bollywood diva into the ‘Begum’ she is soon to be. As the days draw near the expectations about the wedding grow on us eagerly. It’s a great mystery of how this wedding is the talk not only amongst the media, but also the masses.
Curiosity and anxiety about the occasion seems to be at its peak. It is awaited by one and all with bated breath. There never seems to be enough.
Following the family ‘parampara’ of not just marrying the Bollywood queen, but also having the ceremony at the Pautadi house, the ancestral palace, and Kareena wearing the much talked about, ancestral joda.
This traditional joda, was first worn by Begum Sajida Sultan of Bhopal at her own wedding in 1939, then by Sharmila Tagore at her wedding. The beautiful Bollywood queen, Kareena Kapoor, can only be imagined as the dream bride in this joda.
It has taken Ritu Kumar four months to restore the antique heirloom, comprising of kurta, farshi paijama and dupatta. It is made of rust and gold tissue, contrasting with the green satin and gota border, with decorative zardozi on the border and the neckline.
Saif Ali Khan’s ancestral palace in Pataudi, is being renovated and readied for the upcoming wedding. The Neemrana Hotels which runs this palace has put all bookings on hold till October 25th. Sharmila Tagore has personally taken upon herself to oversee these renovations. For the past one month, she has been visiting the palace regularly.
Saif’s father Nawab Ali Khan Pataudi felt that Saif and Kareena made a lovely pair together in real life. Karisma who knew Saif during her early days in Bollywood seems very fond of the jodi too, stating she is very excited for the wedding and simply can’t wait for the big day.
Reports suggest Kareena will be known as Kareena Kapoor Khan after her big wedding. Kareena says “Today, we are best friends. I hope marriage only adds to what we share”.
