The Lovers is a story based on love story set across different eras and continents of the world. The movie was a major disappointment from the side of director Roland Joffe who was the maker of Oscar nominated film The Killing Fields. The director was criticized for creating a chaotic mash up during the fluctuations between the eras and continents.
Lead actor Josh Hartnett plays two roles in the film. One a present-day American marine biologist who loses consciousness as he saves his wife from an accident, and a British soldier in 1770s India who falls in love with a woman, which is played by Bipasha Basu. However critics have also stated that despite all the hassle the ending of the movie was worth the wait.
