A lot has changed in Bollywood since the Hindi Film Industry was incepted. From being a male domain with fleeting presence of women in films, the industry has grown to women-centric films that sometimes work well at the box office. With women getting more credence in the industry, it is not surprising that they now want more power in their hands. There has been an increase in the number of actresses turning producers and a few names really astounded us.
Anushka Sharma
She is young, vibrant and lovely. She has made a name for herself and is one of the most sought after actresses in the industry. With so much working in her favour, you wouldn’t possibly expect her to plunge into production just yet but this lady loves to do the unexpected. Anushka Sharma has already started shooting her first production, NH10. The film is made in co-production with Phantom Films and is directed by Navjyot Singh. It is expected to release this September.
Amisha Patel
She came, she conquered and then she withered away…well, not really but she did to some extent. Many flops and an ugly controversy later, she decided to turn producer. She announced her debut production Desi Magic, co-starring Zayed Khan and Sahil Shroff, recently.
Priyanka Chopra
She may not belong to the new brigade but Priyanka Chopra has reasons enough to turn producer. She has been in the industry for long and has seen a lot of ups and downs. She has also seen what producers go through while making a film. With so much behind her, it wasn’t surprising to see her turn producer with Madamji. The film will be directed by Madhur Bhandarkar.
Dia Mirza
With people not being kind with her acting skills, Dia Mirza decided to check out production and came out with Love Breaks Zindagi. Well, it got no love and led to break up with Zayed Khan who was her production partner. Not the one to let it go, Dia sprung back with Bobby Jasoos and this time with her fiancé Sahil Sangha in tow. With Vidya Balan in it, Bobby Jasoos looks promising. Only time will say if she gets second time lucky.
Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa Shetty chose a Big Brother and she never had to look back. It only made her see unprecedented success and also helped her meet her businessman husband. Next stop, Bollywood again and so the lady along with her husband started her own production house. They made Dhishkiyaaon and it just blew off without a trace. Well, now the lady has promised to come up with a comedy.
