Bollywood’s Weekly Wrap

singham returns - 01[tps_footer]This week saw many first look Bollywood launches which made us wonder, was the last week an auspicious time for the same. Makers were scrambling to launch their first look trailers and host the events at posh theatres. But the biggest event of the week was the famous Ifftar Party where Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan hugged yet again signalling people if they aren’t friends, they aren’t foes either. Don’t we just like these two Khans when they try to do these small gestures to give us a glimpse of their once upon a time friendship?

Coming back to the launches, Daawat-e-Ishq’s first theatrical trailer launch started the trend. A spread of Hyderabadi and Lucknavi delicacies were out there to give the press a feel of what it was like to shoot a film on love and food on the lanes of Lucknow and Hyderabad. Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Roy Kapur were late to the event while press waited patiently for them. Now that wasn’t unusual as we are used to such treatment by celebs every day. But what saves the day for us, is when they interact with the press nicely and Parineeti and Aditya had done their homework well. They answered every question from good to bad to worse with a smile on their face.

On the same day, Philips introduced their new brand ambassador who will endorse their men’s grooming range and he is none other than the Kapoor stud, Arjun Kapoor. He looked quite at ease with whole event. Interestingly, the invite sent out to the press didn’t have any mention of the brand ambassador. It was written on it that the new brand ambassador will be announced. No one had any clue who the person was until they saw Arjun Kapoor entering with a swagger.

Next day saw yet another first look launch and this time it was HaiderVishal Bharadwajs latest Shakespearean tragedy. Based on Hamlet, it has some of the best actors in the cast starting from Tabu to Kay Kay to Irrfan Khan. But the stars of the show were Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor who play the leads in the film. It was an eloquently hosted event but Vishal seemed cautious answering too many questions.

Canada and India entered into an audio visual Corporation Treaty this week which will open up Bollywood markets to Canadian Filmmakers. A press conference was held in this regards where the perks of such an agreement was discussed with elite members of Indian film industry and Canada in attendance.

Huma Qureshi unveiled the latest cover of Femina Magazine which has her dictating her rules around her body. She looked elegant in a red and white combination dress which flaunted her 4kg less body. She spoke about why she wanted to lose weight for herself and not for any film. The event also had people from other walks of life defying the conventional rules of body and mind exercised in our country. The one-legged dance wonder from India’s Got Talent’s last season Subrit too was part of the session talking about how her imperfection couldn’t stop her from chasing her dreams. Tanishtha Chatterjee talked about how Indians just can’t get over their obsession for fair skinned people.

Apart from that Sidharth Malhotra kickstarted the Taiwan Excellence 2014 campaign, while Arjun Kapoor endorsed yet another product, a mobile company. Shraddha Kapoor paid a thank you visit to Siddhivinayak Temple after the stupendous success of Ek Villain while Riteish Deshmukh seemed too busy holding special screenings of Lai Bhari for whoever matters to him.

The week ended on a Singham and Devil note. While Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor and Rohit Shetty unveiled the first look trailer of Sigham Returns, Salman Khan and Nargis Fakhri unveiled the Devil Song at an event at a night club.

A very interesting end to a superb week where events are concerned![/tps_footer]
