MUMBAI: Just as everyone expected, Salman Khan starrer, Arbaaz Khan Production’s ‘Dabangg 2’ has proved to be a real winner at the Box office, going by the film’s first day collections.

The film, also featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Vinod Khanna, Prakash Raj, Deepak Dobriyal and Malaika Arora Khan as well as Kareena Kapoor in a special appearance, release on 21 December 2012.

After superb cllections at the box office for the first installment , it is no surprise that the film has managed to arrive with a bang, so to speak. ‘Dabangg 2’ has managed to rake in a very grand Rs 210 million ( Rs 21 crore) net on Day 1.

Among the Khan triumvirate, Salman stands tall as the mightiest Khan. The actor’s other big ticket release this year, ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, which released on Eid, managed a whopping Rs 320 million (32 crores) on its first day.

However, the ‘Dabangg 2’ collections are noteworthy since the film has released on a non-public holiday.

In comparison, Shah Rukh Khan’s magnum opus, ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, which released on Diwali, had collections of Rs 152.5 million (Rs 15.25 crores) net on Day 1, and Aamir’s ‘Talaash’ posted a dismal collections of only Rs 128 million (Rs 12.8 crores) net.

‘Dabangg 2’ has seen brisk business in single screen theatres. The business at multiplexes across the country has not been as good as was expected, but with the weekend looming large, this scenario might very well turn around.
