Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Rock On 2 opened to a low start at the box office. The film opened with around 10-15% occupancy in the morning shows and was expected to show some growth by evening. The musical drama film, which has been directed by Shujaat Saudagar, also stars Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai, Purab Kohli and Shashank Arora.
The first day business of Rock On 2 is Rs. 1.75 crore (17.5 million) nett approx, which was quite expected. The film has made it to the list of the worst opening of the year along with Harshvardhan and Saiyami Kher starrer Mirzya. Now, it is a clear struggle for the film to mint good numbers on weekend. The opening day of Rock On (2008) was 1.66 crore nett, which is lesser to the sequel collection.
This kind of poor opening was pretty much expected as the film failed to create the much-needed hype before the release. Unlike the original one, the music of sequel Rock On 2 turned out to be huge disappointment among the audience. While the trailer of the film had an average impact on the audience, music too received a cold response.
Now it remains to see what magic the film creates to survive at the Box Office in the coming days. The collections of the film can only rely on word of mouth, which can be a game changer. The target audience of the film is mostly youth and so, the film should show substantial growth in multiplexes and cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore
