MUMBAI: Bollywood actor cum producer John Abraham has candidly voiced his opinion on award shows in India, and how he thinks actors take home the trophy, at a recent press conference.

The actor who was out on promotions for his next film ‘I, Me Aur Main’, set to release on Friday, 1 March, seemed to be in a rather bad mood at the conference. Before the conference began, John angrily pointed at a reporter and asked him to be silent and seated. Not letting his anger fade, the actor began describing his character in the film and said, “It’s a fun character: someone who is lovable and immature like most men are, (pointing at the reporter) like this gentlemen here.”

In a very blunt manner, John Abraham went on to compare Indian award shows to the prestigious Oscars. The straight forward star said, “All our award shows, are actually television shows. The actors here have to dance in the show for gaining television rating points (TRPs) It’s a channel thing, it’s also an actor thing. We don’t have a single award which is a very serious award. So I don’t think we will ever reach that level of a very fair award.”

“The person who will dance, will get an award,” added John openly!

However, the actor believes the nominations for the recent award shows were fair. “Last year all the awards were pretty fair to be honest. Because new films and different films like ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘English Vinglish’, ‘OMG: Oh My God!’, ‘Kahaani’ have all bagged a lot awards.”
