The television scion, Ekta Kapoor’s supar natural drama, Brahmarakshas – Jaag Utha Shaitaan is going off air next month.
The show, which is loosely based on on fantasy thriller film, Jaani Dushman and the western fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast, glued many people to their television sets every weekend at 9 pm. It used to be among the top three shows.
The TRPs of this popular show has been dipping for past couple of months. But that is not the reason it’s being pulled off the air.
The reason for the show to go off air is that the contract of the serial expires in February. Zee TV had a 44 episodes contract with Ekta Kapoor and the story has almost run its course.

Brahmarakshas is the story of a young girl from Mumbai named Raina who goes to Kamalpura with her best friend to attend a wedding. After reaching there, Raina (Krystle D’Souza) and Rishabh (Aham Sharma) lose someone special to both of them in an encounter with the monster Brahmarakshas in Kamalpura village. They decide to enter into a contract marriage so that they can meet and take revenge from the monster that is responsible for the death of the brides.
Other popular faces that appear in the show were Kishwer Merchant (her character in the show has died now), Rakshanda Khan and Parag Tyagi.
Unlike in her era of the typical daily soaps that ran for at least 4-5 years, the stipulated-stint shows are now their forte. Another example is that of Naagin. Does that mean Brahmarakshas will also have a season 2?
