MUMBAI: Bollywood filmmaker Anurag Basu, who is himself a cancer survivor, revealed that his heart goes out to Priyanka Chopra and her family in her time of grief. Priyanka’s father, Dr. Ashok Chopra succumbed to cancer on Monday at a suburban Mumbai hospital.
The super hit filmmaker, best known for his last film ‘Barfi!’, which starred Priyanka Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor in leading roles, says he knows how draining the illness can be, having suffered the same himself years ago.
Anurag recently said to reporters: “Having gone through the same illness, I realise how draining cancer can be. More than the obvious physical complexities, it is mentally challenging. I was there last night by Mr. Chopra. He fought a tough battle. But since it was a relapse, it was increasingly tough to tackle. Priyanka has stood like a rock by her father. I’m not worried for her. She’s extremely strong as a person …my prayers are with the Chopra family.”
