According to confirmed reports, Kapil Sharma had bagged a whopping RS 107 crore deal with Sony TV. The contract was about to begin from April when the channel was happily ready to renew The Kapil Sharma Show for another year.
There was just one catch – Kapil had to wrap all his other commitments by then and will only be a SONY TV talent for the next one year. The contract would have ended next January. But following the Sunil Grover incident with Kapil Sharma, the TRPs have dipped and the show has got a lot of negative press.
This in turn is affecting the turnout on the show and the makers, who are here to do business, have even thought of pulling a plug on their flagship show. But another source from the channel reveals, “The makers too are trying to cash in on the bad publicity and they have dropped hints to Kapil that they are not willing to continue with the show. Kapil is stressed right now and Sony is using this as an advantage to bargain and cut down the meteoric sum they were about to pay Kapil. The show might be held on but the contractual sum won’t be Rs 107 crore anymore.”
