The first official look of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan from her new film Sarabjit has been released and shows the 42-year-old actress sitting at a desk, dressed simple in a salwar kameez. Rai is essaying the role of Sarabjit Singh‘s sister Dalbir Kaur. In this picture she appears to be penning her thoughts in a diary with a somber expression – perhaps she is recounting the horrors of what happened with her brother. The movie is set to be narrated from Dalbir’s point of view.
Randeep Hooda is seen portraying the young Sarabjit in the picture. However, for later portions of the film, Hooda lost 18 kgs in 28 days!

The movie is set to release on May 19th and is based on Sarabjit Singh, who was an Indian national convicted of terrorism and spying by a Pakistani court. After a brief trial in the Lahore High Court he was condemned and sentenced to death in 1991, but the sentence was repeatedly postponed by the Government of Pakistan. While in prison in April 2013, he was attacked by fellow inmates and died six days later at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.
The film also stars Actress Richa Chadha who will play the role of Sarabjit‘s wife Sukhpreet as well as Darshan Kumaar in a pivotal role.[/tps_footer]
