MUMBAI: Director Aanand L Rai, riding high on the success of his latest film ‘Raanjhanaa’ has confirmed that there will be a sequel to his 2011 romantic film ‘Tanu Weds Manu’.

Refuting rumours of a ‘Raanjhanaa’ sequel though, Aanand L Rai added: “For me the film is over. I don’t think I can make a sequel to it now… whatever we wanted to tell we have told it all.”

The filmmaker also denied rumours that Imran Khan and Anushka Sharma would be part of the sequel, insisting that the lead actors Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut will reprise their roles from the original.

‘Tanu Weds Manu’ was a hit romantic comedy about an NRI (played by Madhavan), who comes to India and falls in love with the feisty Uttar Pradesh girl (Kangana).

Rai revealed: “There is a sequel, it’s in the system…the plan is still on. I don’t know when it will go on floors. If its happening it will happen with same star cast – Madhavan and Kangana will go ahead with the franchise. The film is incomplete without them.”
