MUMBAI: It’s another historic case of comeback from Bollywood. It all began with Neetu Singh Kapoor marking a return with hubby Rishi Kapoor in ‘Do Dooni Chaar’. Then it was Sridevi’s royal return with ‘English Vinglish’. And now another legendary actress is set to mark a return to acting after 13 years.
Reena Roy is all set to stage her comeback. It isn’t a Bollywood film, the actress will be returning to. She has signed Bengali director Agnidev Chatterjee’s new film alongside another yesteryear star Vinod Khanna.
Both these actors together were last seen in a film called ‘Janam Kundali’ that released way back in 1995. Reena Roy’s last solo performance was in the Abhishek Bachchan starrer ‘Refugee’ in 2000.
Agnidev Chatterjee is known to make films with bold and controversial themes like his counterpart, the Late Rituparno Ghosh. The current Bengali film is about a real-life case of pardon by an Indian Governor explained in the Indian constitution.
It goes little to say that Agnidev’s new film with Reena Roy wouldn’t be less controversial. But all eyes will be on Reena Roy.
It will be even more interesting to see Reena Roy playing character roles and returning to Hindi films as well. Do we see her playing mom to Sonakshi Sinha? We just heard a sniff from Shatrughan Sinha! Do we see a family reunion in the making?
